How to change Ubuntu Screen Resolution permanently

To change screen resolution permanently in ubuntu, open file  located at /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Add following lines at screen section of the file contents

Section “Screen”
Identifier    “Default Screen”
Monitor        “Configured Monitor”
Device        “Configured Video Device”
Defaultdepth    24
SubSection “Display”
Depth     24
Modes     “1024×768”
EndSubSection
